Expectedly, LeBron James has returned to the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday after picking up his $52.6 million option.

James reportedly has the option to sign a long-term agreement while accepting a salary decrease.

His comments regarding his desire to win another championship have sparked rumors that he may be planning to leave.

This led Polymarket Sports to question whether a possible meeting with Kyrie Irving was in the cards:

“The polymarket for Lebron leaving is spiking as rumors of him trying to win one more championship circulate. Would he reunite with Kyrie Irving in Dallas for one last shot at a ring?” read the post.

Renown X user @CuffsTheLegend, who has ghostwritten for numerous sports figures, has disclosed that one Dallas Mavericks player shares that view.

“A Dallas Maverick messaged me late last night and that’s all i can say at this moment,” he tweeted on Tuesday.

Mavericks GM Nico Harrison reportedly has a great relationship with Lakers GM Rob Pelinka, which is what helped kick the tires on the Luka Doncic trade in February.

With the Mavericks also adding No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg, perhaps getting back with Irving and Anthony Davis would be just what James was talking about when he talked about winning another championship before calling it quits.

Four teams want LeBron James

James has a no-trade clause in his contract, so he could essentially handpick his next destination.

Insider Dave McMenamin of ESPN says that James’ agent Rich Paul informed him that four or more clubs have expressed interest in trading for James, but that James has not yet informed the Lakers that he wants out:
β€œHe told me that he has not had any discussion with the Lakers about wanting a trade…,” McMenamin said. β€œHe did say that four teams have contacted him in the last 24 hours wanting to talk trades, but Rich didn’t have any substantive conversations with those teams, either.”
This is hardly the first time James has been involved with such rumors, and he certainly doesn’t have a compelling reason to depart from the Lakers.
He has always had a significant say in roster construction, lives with his family in Los Angeles, and plays alongside his eldest kid. It may be wise for him to take his talents somewhere if he wants to win another championship before retiring.
