5-Star Center Malachi Moreno Commits to Kentucky Wildcats
In a major recruiting victory for Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats, Malachi Moreno, the 7-foot McDonald’s All-American center, has committed to Kentucky. Moreno, who led Great Crossing High School (KY) to a state championship this past season, chose the Wildcats over offers from Indiana, Arkansas, Iowa, and Louisville.
Ranked the No. 2 center in the 2025 class (247Sports), Moreno is a dominant two-way force, averaging 16.8 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 4.5 blocks per game as a senior. His commitment solidifies Kentucky’s frontcourt future, joining a reloaded roster under Pope.
“I believe in Coach Pope’s vision and the way he develops big men,” Moreno said. “Kentucky is home.”
Moreno’s decision is a huge boost for the Wildcats, who lost several players to the NBA Draft and transfers. His shot-blocking, rebounding, and improving offensive game make him an immediate impact player in the SEC.
Kentucky fans celebrated the news, as Moreno becomes the highest-rated commit in Pope’s first full recruiting cycle. His arrival signals a bright future for the program.
