Danny Murphy has remarked that a Manchester City star is among the all-time greatest Premier League performers.

Ever since Pep Guardiola assumed leadership of Manchester City in 2016, the club has dominated English football, having won six Premier League titles and a multitude of other domestic trophies.

Ahead of the Blues’ historic fourth consecutive Premier League championship, one analyst has lavished praise on a particular individual who has been instrumental in the club’s triumphs throughout Guardiola’s tenure at the Etihad Stadium.

Murphy provided the following analysis of Ederson on talkSPORT, encompassing his contributions to City and his standing within the Premier League.

“He is not merely a competent goalkeeper who can play out, but a technically brilliant footballer,” he said. His passing ability is superior to that of certain Premier League midfielders.

By an overwhelming margin, he is the preeminent football goalkeeper in history. No one is in close proximity to him.”

Since his £35 million summer transition from Benfica to Manchester United in the 2017 transfer window, Ederson has appeared in 332 games across all competitions for the Blues.

The £100k-per-week City star has maintained 155 clean sheets and won a multitude of trophies during that stretch.

The passing of Ederson is elite.
With 114 completions out of 246 long passes attempted, the Brazilian concluded the most recent Premier League season with the highest passing accuracy percentage (46.3%) in the division for passes exceeding 40 yards.

Given the aforementioned information and Guardiola’s remark from 2021 regarding Ederson’s distribution being the finest he has ever witnessed from a goalkeeper, it is comprehensible why Murphy holds the City star in such high regard, given his dexterity with the ball at his feet and his ability to move it throughout the field.
