Celtics Go West: Boston Reportedly Explores Blockbuster Trade Talks With Top Western Conference Team

It has been claimed that trade talks have taken place between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Boston Celtics as of late.

All summer long, the Boston Celtics have been trying to save money.

With the biggest tax burden ever when they entered the summer, they traded Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis for Anfernee Simons and Georges Niang, and Al Horford is expected to go via free agency.

Given that Jayson Tatum is slated to miss the whole 2025-26 season due to a torn Achilles that he suffered in the playoffs, the team may be exploring additional salary-cutting moves, even if those deals have put them beneath the second tax apron.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Celtics and the Memphis Grizzlies discussed a possible trade not long ago.

The Grizzlies have had a fascinating offseason as well. “The Celtics, I think, are still very active in taking trade calls, maybe making trade calls,” said Fischer.

We are attempting to gather additional information regarding a matter that was discussed last week between Memphis and Boston.

However, Boston’s rivals are certain that the Bruins are still trying to trade Anferneee Simons and Georges Niang.

Whatever was discussed was probably not Anfernee Simons, though it’s not entirely clear.

The Memphis Grizzlies’ backcourt is deep thanks to Ja Morant, Scotty Pippen Jr., Ty Jerome, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who the team acquired in a trade.

Simons isn’t likely because they just bought out Cole Anthony to free up more minutes for everyone else.

However, if Niang were the one being considered, Memphis would find him intriguing.

John Konchar is reportedly being courted by teams like the Brooklyn Nets, but a deal might still be struck that would allow Niang to keep his $8.2 million salary.
